Introduction
Direct Second Year (DSE) Engineering admission is conducted by the Maharashtra CET Cell for diploma students who want to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) after completing their diplomaFor diploma students, lateral entry seats are limited to 10% of the approved intake of each engineering branch. For example, if a college has an approved intake of 300 seats in Computer Science Engineering, only 30 seats are available for Direct Second Year (DSE) admissions.
Getting admission to top government, autonomous, and private engineering colleges in Maharashtra is more competitive than First year engineering because most branches have only 6 to 30 DSE seats sanctioned. Therefore, diploma students should aim for the highest possible percentage in their final year and prepare their CAP Options list according to their marks and previous years cutoff data for CAP option form filling.
To help students, I created the Maharashtra DSE Cutoff & College Predictor Tool. The tool allows students to check the cutoff of engineering colleges across Maharashtra using filters such as branch, reservation category, gender, and district. It also predicts suitable colleges based on diploma percentage, reservation category, gender, district, and branch, helping students prepare a best college preference/options list during the admission process.
